Personalized Screening & assessment

What's an Assessment

An assessment is a conversation between a professional counselor and an individual that helps determine if a substance use disorder is present or a high risk. The background and information provided during the assessment provides direction in recommending the best options for the individual.

Who Performs Them

Licensed, professional counselors at High Desert Counseling will complete the assessment to better understand your strengths and discern potential problems then talk through the options, and make appropriate and clear recommendations for treatment.

What Happens Next

Not all recommendations are for treatment at HDC.  If it is determined residential treatment is necessary, your counselor will refer you to the appropriate provider.  If your circumstances are not a fit for HDC, your counselor may refer you to another treatment center that specializes in the care you require.

Treatment Options at High Desert Counseling

High Desert Counseling offers a full range of outpatient services and partners with the community to provide med management and additional mental health therapy.

Day Treatment (PHP)

Day treatment is partial hospitalization (PHP) for those individuals that do not clinically require 24-hour inpatient or residential care.

The course of treatment, includes 4 hours daily at the facility where the individual receives counseling, group therapy, relapse prevention skills, education, and a personalized treatment plan.

Intensive Outpatient (IOP)

Intensive outpatient programs (IOP) are treatment programs designed to address substance use disorders not requiring detoxification or round-the-clock supervision. This allows patients to continue with their daily lives in a way that residential treatment programs do not.

If you are someone who has a safe living environment, family or work commitments that may interfere with residential treatment, IOP may be your best solution.

Continuing Care

For those needing access to continued recovery support at the conclusion of outpatient treatment.

It is also an alternative for those who do not meet the clinical need for Day Treatment or IOP. With access to individual and group counseling, peer support, medication-assisted treatment, and other psychiatric services.

How it Works

Day Treatment

Day Treatment (PHP) requires 20 hours per week and meets daily, five days per week for four weeks.  This may be reduced if the patient finds employment or has another serious obligation.

IOP

Intensive Outpatient treatment is a step down from Day Treatment that requires nine hours per week for about eight weeks. These are group sessions accompanied by one therapy session each week.

GOP

Stepping down from IOP is General Outpatient Treatment that consists of bi-weekly visits with your therapist and continues until you feel ready to complete your treatment.

<a>Don't Give Up</a>

A great way to tell the character of someone is not if and what mistakes are made but rather how their mistakes are handled and fixed. I'm very happy with the integrity and compassion that High Desert Counseling has shown in their practice.

<a>Overcoming Obstacles</a>

Without them, I wouldn’t be living the life I am! They helped me in many different ways from my addiction, marriage, parenting, and mostly how to move forward! I am now ok with my self and my past.
